His breakthrough roles were as Okita Sougo in Gintama, and as Yuichi in Friends Games. In early 2011, Yoshizawa made his debut in Sign with fellow Amuse actors Sakurada Dori and Uehara Takuya. In the second half of that year, he starred in Kingyo Club, and would go on to portray Sakuta Ryusei from Episode 17 in Kamen Rider Fourze.
He won the Newcomer of the Year award at the 42nd Japan Academy Awards in 2019 for his role as Yamada Ichiro in River's Edge. A year later, he won Best Supporting Actor award from the same awards association for his role in Kingdom.
